On Friday, June 6, 2003, I was the guest author at a book club discussion, featuring my first novel: "Life is But a Dream". The members present were seven funny, spirited, professional women who were all eager to share their perception of Tyana’s developing romance with ballroom dancing, but foremost her developing friendship with her dance instructor, Antonio. There was also quite a bit of conversation regarding Ellis’ tangled affair with the infamous and salacious, Charlotte. But let’s not forget Trevor and his devotion to Tyana; providing her a shoulder to lean on whenever she found herself in perplexing situations. Hey, what’s Trevor’s story? At one point during the discussion, I had an eerie feeling that we were discussing real-life couples with real-life dilemmas. Hmm…That was a compliment in itself because while I’m writing my stories, my characters are real to me.
The women of the book club couldn’t have been more hospitable as they served up delicious appetizer and stimulating "pre book discussion" conversation (food for thought). I especially enjoyed the opportunity to get feedback on my books. Of course, it’s always rewarding when the feedback is positive and, in this case, it was! I was elated that I could add a captivating story to the list of novels unanimously selected by this discerning group. The discussion was definitely exhilarating for me.

To my literary friends: Vanessa Lewter, Sandy Eubanks, Edna Carter, Karen Williams, LaDonna Liggins, Stefanie Steward-Young, and Brenda Marshall, thank you for inviting me to the discussion and inviting my books into your repertoire. I look forward to seeing you all again on September 12, 2003, for the scheduled discussion of my second novel, "Dance Me to the End of Love," the sequel to "Life is But a Dream." And thanks for selecting that one, also. I get the feeling that I haven’t heard the last review of my character, Charlotte, from this group!

Best Regards, Theresa
